Video Team Fellowship

The Independent Journal Review (IJR) is looking for an innovative Video Team Fellow who has the knowledge and passion for publishing informative content to a large and engaged independent-minded audience. This specialist will assist in the development of a cohesive digital voice for IJR’s social properties, along with ensuring consistent, high-quality execution.

Position Description

The fellow will work closely with the video team and assist with production. This will primarily be editing work, but may also include camerawork, lighting, sound recording, and creative tasks. The fellow will have a few other miscellaneous responsibilities, such as making coffee and organizing equipment after a shoot, and any additional set-up & tear down needs. In exchange for a positive attitude and work ethic, fellow will receive regular training in whichever areas of production interest them.

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable and willing to learn more with Adobe Premiere. Any other Creative Suite software is a plus (After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Must be interested in a career in video, journalism, or social media-centered production.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Understanding of "Social First” video strategies
  • Basic Working Knowledge of Camera Operation
  • Understanding of current events
  • Basic Understanding of how to Script videos
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms

Additional Details

  • $1,000/month, full-time, paid fellowship, Monday-Friday
  • Expectation to work weekends when available
  • Monthly Travel Stipend
  • Fellowship starts Jan 15, 2018 (4 months)
  • Located in greater Washington, D.C. area
