Social Media Fellowship

The Independent Journal Review (IJR) is looking for an innovative Social Media Fellow who has the knowledge and passion for publishing informative content to a large and engaged independent-minded audience. This specialist will assist in the development of a cohesive digital voice for IJR’s social properties, along with ensuring consistent, high-quality execution.

The position will be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with editorial team to identify and package quality, engaging content for social media
  • Oversee the strategy, planning, implementation and reporting of social media initiatives
  • Will be responsible for posting a large quantity of articles per day, including a willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Compose written/visual content that successfully engages the Independent Journal Review fan base
  • Assist in the reporting and analyzing of data

Here's what we're looking for in a great candidate:

  • An intimate knowledge of how Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram work
  • Familiarity with business/editorial voice of social platforms
  • Willingness to work on an adjusted schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Stickler for proper grammar/punctuation, with an ability to write in both a conversational and professional tone
  • Willing to work in a politically-inclined environment
  • Proven ability to carefully follow directions the first time
  • Rigorous work ethic and self-motivated attitude
  • An appreciation for working with a smart, dedicated team of young professionals

Additional Details

  • $1,000/month, full-time, paid fellowship, Monday-Friday
  • Expectation to work weekends when available
  • Monthly Travel Stipend
  • Fellowship starts Jan 15, 2018 (4 months)
  • Located in greater Washington, D.C. area
